||
Update from Sgt Walsh Rochdale North Neighbourhood – Officers and PCSOs from Rochdale North Neighbourhood Team were supported by Special Constables, specialist resources from the traffic department and community volunteers to carry out an off road bike operation under Operation Hurricane. Its was a very busy shift, unfortunately there was a lot of off road activity in a number of areas however we were able to achieve some really good results. Two youths were detained after dumping a Moped on Ramsden Road, Wardle. The Moped was seized and the riders will be reported for motoring offences. Cannabis was also located and enquiries are ongoing into this Officers spotted two off road bikes at Lobden Golf Course and they were seen to head over to Dewhurst Road where one of the traffic patrols was able to box one of the bikes in and detain the rider. The bike was seized for no insurance and motoring offences are under investigation PC’S Higham and Aldred spotted and detained another off road biker up at Lobden Gold Course and this was seized for breaching the Section 59 Warnings. Officers searching for two mopeds in the Sandy lane area observed what appeared to be a drug deal. A vehicle that left the area was followed by the officers and traffic patrols stopped the vehicle on Bolton Road. A large amount of suspected class a drugs were located and two males who were arrested have been charged and remanded to court as well as the vehicle being seized. The final results were – 1 x Moped Seized 2 x Off Road Bike Seized 1 x Car seized 4 x Stop Search for drugs 1 x Vehicle search for drugs 3 x Public Space Protection Order Breach fines to be issued 2 x Arrests for Possession with intent to supply We hope this sends out a message that we will not tolerate unlawful off road bike activity but that also our eyes are open to all types of crime while we are deployed on these operations and this includes disrupting organised crime whenever possible as demonstrated by these latest arrests. We thank all those who took part in the operation, in particular the community volunteers and the Special Constable's who give up their spare time for free. | ||
